Weather Calendar — daily forecast in Google Calendar

Why you set it up on a computer

Google Calendar has no weather forecast of its own. Weather Calendar, a free add-on, adds one as calendar events: one all-day event per day for the next 14 days, such as “☀️ 5°C / 15°C – Clear sky”. Add-ons are found and set up in Google Calendar on a computer, from Settings › Get add-ons or the side panel, so the one-time setup needs a computer. After that the forecast is made of ordinary events, and the Google Calendar app on iPhone and Android shows them like any other event.

The steps below use the free edition. Weather Calendar Pro and Weather Calendar Ultra are set up the same way; compare Free, Pro and Ultra to pick the one you need.

Ways to add weather to Google Calendar

There are two ways to see weather in your calendar. Both are set up once on a computer and then show on every device signed in to the same Google account.

1. An add-on such as Weather Calendar writes the forecast into your calendar as all-day events. You pick a city and units in the side panel, and the add-on keeps the events up to date: once a day on the free edition, every 3 hours on Pro and Ultra.

2. A published iCal weather feed is added under Other calendars › From URL. You need a working feed address from its provider, and how fresh it stays depends on that provider and on Google’s refresh of subscribed calendars.

For most people the add-on is the simpler choice: no feed address to find, and the forecast sits on the same days as your plans.

Set it up step by step

Three steps on a computer, about a minute in all.

  1. Install Weather Calendar on a computer

Open the Weather Calendar listing in the Google Workspace Marketplace. Sign in with the Google account you use for your calendar, choose Install and review the requested access before proceeding.

    Open Weather Calendar on Marketplace
  2. Open the add-on and choose your city

Open Google Calendar on the web. Find Weather Calendar in the right-hand sidebar and open it. Set your city and choose Celsius or Fahrenheit.

    Open Google Calendar ↗
  3. Check the forecast in your calendar

Weather Calendar adds one all-day forecast event per day for the next 14 days. Open a forecast event to read it. The free edition refreshes once a day; it is not a live weather display.

See the weather on your iPhone

Open the Google Calendar app on your iPhone and sign in with the same Google account you used on the computer. The forecast shows as an all-day event on each day; tap it to read the details.

Using Apple’s Calendar app instead of Google’s? Google’s sync help has separate instructions for showing Google Calendar events in Apple Calendar.

See the weather on your Android phone

Open the Google Calendar app and switch to the Google account you used on the computer. The forecast events appear on each day of the 14-day window. If they are missing, open the menu and check that the calendar named after your account is ticked.

Several Google accounts? Check the account and calendar

Weather Calendar writes the forecast into the main calendar of the Google account you set it up with, the one named after that account. If you use a personal and a work account, the weather appears in that one account only. To see it on your phone, add that account to the Google Calendar app and keep its main calendar ticked in the menu.

Weather on the web but not on your phone?

Work through these checks in order:

1. In the Google Calendar app, open the menu and check that you are looking at the right account and that its main calendar is ticked.

2. On Android, open the app’s settings, select that calendar and make sure Sync is on; tap Show more if the calendar is not listed.

3. Refresh the app from its menu, and check that your phone is online and has free storage.

If the events are still missing, follow Google’s steps to fix sync problems with the Google Calendar app. For help with Weather Calendar itself, email work@louissch.com.

Work or school account? Ask your admin

On a Google Workspace work or school account, your administrator decides whether Marketplace add-ons are allowed. If Get add-ons is missing or the install fails, ask them to allow Weather Calendar. It is an account policy, not a setting you can change in the Google Calendar app.

How often the forecast refreshes

The forecast is a set of calendar events that the add-on rewrites on a schedule, not a live weather display, and old events are replaced rather than duplicated. The free Weather Calendar refreshes once a day; its optional in-app Premium refreshes every 3 hours and adds custom and weather-based event colors. Weather Calendar Pro and Weather Calendar Ultra refresh every 3 hours.

Want more detail on your phone? Pro adds hourly temperature, rain chance, wind and humidity for today and tomorrow (CHF 10 a year), and Ultra adds wind gusts and direction, air quality, UV, sunrise and sunset (CHF 15 a year). Both forecast 8 days ahead and are separate add-ons from the free one.

Prefer a weather feed to an add-on? On a computer you can subscribe to a published iCal weather feed under Other calendars › From URL. You need a working feed address from its provider, and how fresh it stays depends on that provider and on Google’s refresh of subscribed calendars.

Hay fever as well? Pollen Calendar puts a pollen forecast in Google Calendar the same way, as color-coded all-day events.
